Jessie

Jessie died on Tuesday this week.  She was one of my first two female gerbils.  Here are some quick facts about her:
  • She was born on July 29, 2009
  • I got her and her sister from SA Gerbils on September 10, 2009
  • She had four litters, with a total of 19 babies.
  • She lost half of her tail in the cage divider when she was about 8 months old.
  • Her only mate was Joey
  • She and her sister Alice were my two best mothers (until Chloey ;), even adopting some other babies who's mothers were not taking care of them
  • Her favorite treat has always been cheerios

Pictures and Update from Day 15

Okay, so I haven't done a very good job of keeping this updated regularly, but I have taken some pictures.  Here are some from day 15- these were taken right before they opened their eyes- so cute!!

I have decided to name the girl Cailey, and I am still narrowing down the boys name.  Thanks to everyone who voted in my poll.

Now I will be *trying* to post more often.  ;)

The whole bunch piled up in the corner- this was the only way I could get them to stay still, besides in my hand.

Day 13 Pictures

Well, I haven't done very well about posting every day, but I was able to take a bunch of pictures today.  Here they are.  The three lighter boys are going to be really pretty, but of course they are still pre-molt, so it is hard to tell quite what they are going to look like.
The little girlie

Pile up : )

The only tan light eyed boy.

It's hard to keep them all in one place (they are wanting to explore everything)
All lined up (finally)

Off to explore!!!

The little girlie (again)

One of the white boys (I need to figure out a way to tell them apart...)

The other two white boys.

*Most* of the boys and the girl

Almost a triangle!!

I think this pic is my favorite of all of them : )

1 week update!

The pups are now 1 week old!  Now I am pretty sure that there are four boys, and only one girl.  The one girl is the farthest right in the first picture.  Here are a few pictures I took of them today...
Front view...

...and back view
They should be opening their eyes in about a week.

Day 6

Here are some of the pictures I took of them today.  They are getting so big!  I am starting to see a little bit of their coloring coming in.  All of the black-eyed ones are lighter, probably either DOH (Dark eyed honey) or possibly even silver nutmeg.  Pups #'s 3 and 4 are especially darker.  I can't wait to see what their coloring ends up being!
Pup #1

Pup #2

Pup #3

Pup #4- it looks like this one is probably mottled

Pup #5

The whole gang *finally* all lined up in a row ;)

Days 4 and 5

Here are pictures of them from the 4th and 5th days.  Their ears are separated from their heads now (when they were born, they were stuck to there heads).  They are all very healthy, and growing up fast!  Chloey is due for her next litter in about two weeks.

Pups- Day 4

Day 5-  I tried lining them all up, but they didn't stay that way for very long!
Little lone baby

They are so *tiny*

I will *hopefully*  post the pictures from today later today.

Day 3

Here are some photos I took today.  I am pretty sure that I have two girls, and three boys, but of course, they are really too small to tell yet!  They are all doing well and getting bigger little by little!
The three boys (I think)
The two girls (Again, I think)
The whole gang (the fifth is in the back, underneath the rest)

New Babies!!!

I peeked in Charlie and Chloey's cage this morning, and saw five little pinkies.  There are four black-eyed, and one red-eyed.  Here is a picture of them about six hours after they were born.  I will *hopefully* be posting a picture of them every 1-3 days.  Chloey is doing a great job taking care of them!!
